Hill Plains House
Location: Dja Dja Wurrung Country (Kyneton)
Category: Residential - Rural
Architect: Wolveridge Architects
Year Completed: 2016
Project Description:
Nestled within the Macedon Ranges, Hill Plains House has been designed to be at home within the grand sweep and scale of the surrounding landscape.
The house is set among rolling hills and mixed eucalypt woodland. To acknowledge both the glorious indigenous landscape and the region's more recent garden history, a simple landscape treatment of gravel, rock and plants was implemented; including indigenous grasses, sprawling shrubs, and exotic perennials embedded amongst shallow Goldfields gravel and soil. The restrained landscape complements the robust building materials of weathered timber and off-form concrete, framing and bringing the views across the ranges into focus.
