Our practice centres on the client, their brief, budget, the geomorphology, the vegetal and the temporal aspects of the site. Landscape Architecture responds to the interrelationship between the people, plants, and animals that inhabit the site. Temporal aspects of the site - the daily and seasonal qualities of light, shade, shelter, existing flora, fauna, and habitation patterns are pivotal in establishing a unique landscape character.

The workings of the original site provide a strong and sympathetic foundation for the design response. tnla and associates designs spaces for living in, to be physically comfortable, energy efficient, joyful, places of discovery, growth, contemplation, and community.

We have a proven track record in projects of all scales, from the very large, to the very small. The specifics of each site provide both limits and opportunities, resulting in a finished environment which is unique, a one-off, every single project.

Country Vision Statement

Landscape, or Country stretches beyond the physical, encompassing history, energy, space, connections, relationships, memory, and ancestry. We understand that within First Nations cultures, Country is grounded in deep intimacy, relationships of reciprocity, and respect for the gifts that Country provides all people, plants and animals.

Within our practice, we aim to recognise this deep and ongoing relationship of First Nations people with Country, and we strive to work with respect and integrity in this realm. As landscape architects, we commit to ensuring we proceed with respect and value; that our work gives back to Country. We strive to give agency to First Nations peoples and follow their leadership as stewards for Country.

Extending across private and public sectors, our practice takes a holistic approach, grounding each project within the local environment; working within existing natural systems to ensure a positive contribution to natural systems, and enhancing sense of place. Through climate-positive design choices, including prioritising local materials and plants, our practice supports a reciprocal relationship with the land, ensuring a client-positive, earth-positive and Country-positive outcome.

process

The breadth of our project-work is across a spectrum, from a small inner-city courtyard or roof-garden, to a masterplan for schools and new communities. Our designs are for all types of people, and are inclusive and welcoming of all abilities.

diversity

Each site and client is unique. We employ a reflective process to ensure a continuous review of our design methods throughout the life of each project. Beyond each project our business processes are continually reviewed to ensure efficient and high quality outcomes.

sustainability

Sustainability and longevity have been at the core of our design process and practice for over two decades. As a business and as individuals, we are dedicated to collaborating creatively with clients and Country to promote a healthier, more vibrant environment, from the micro to the macro scale.

delivery

We strive to provide your project on time and to budget whilst maintaining excellence in design, construction, and consultation. The combination of contemporary design strategies, ecologically sustainable solutions, and time-tested management strategies ensures we can provide a project delivery matrix that is logical, transparent, personalised and professional.
