Sutherland Creek
A broadscale land and water management project, this site includes a working farm, a vineyard and a domestic garden. tnla was engaged for our land management and design skills with water. Water is fundamental to the scheme- from water catchment, irrigation, filtering and treating runoff from the vineyard before feeding back into the Moorabool River.
The water bodies were sited front and square of the house site in a gentle valley to become the visual focus from the new residence in a larger view of regional scope.
The successful merging of the garden space, the drainage basins, the farm and the region beyond is exemplified by the magnificent views from the house through the garden, the filtration basins and down the valley to greater Geelong.
Ultimately, the site is a commercial working farm and yet the sense is one of a systems based, landscape oriented, process driven and sustainable prototype in the Australian landscape.
