Lake Connewarre House
The site was originally degraded farm land. tnla has worked with the client for over a decade to develop and remediate the site and to re-establish the saltmarsh habitat of the endangered Orange Bellied Parrot.
The architectural form is accentuated by immersion in a series of planted bands across the site. The expanse of sky and water are strategically manipulated to provide limited and sequential experience as one travels through the site from the front gate to the house.
The site is organised from agricultural and controlled, through to ‘wild ‘space as one moves deeper, from the orchard at entry, to the house and through the woodland and down the escarpment to the saltmarsh, the lake, the horizon line and ultimately guiding the eye to the sky.
Architect: Kerstin Thompson Architects. Original landscape concept in conjunction with Fiona Harrison
